Abstract

Unveiling the Challenges of Drug Resistance Drugs resistance is a biological phenomenon which has its’ clinical and therapeutic implications. In this article we’ll delve into the world of Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) with a focus on the most infamous infection – Tuberculosis (TB). We’ll investigate the underlying mechanisms of drug resistance and look into the escalating levels of drug resistance from Multi-Drug Resistant (MDR) to Totally Drug-Resistant (TDR) strains. We’ll discuss the current diagnostics and treatment challenges and the need for intensified global surveillance and new drug development to combat AMR and avert its catastrophic consequences on global health.
