Extraction of Gallic Acid from Tea Waste Promotes Sustainable Waste Management and Allows the Conversion of Plant Residues into Valuable Bioactive Substances

Abstract
As tea consumption increases, a large amount of waste is generated. This includes pruned branches of tea plants, seasonally unused leaves, wilted, crushed, fermented, dried, and packaged tea residues, as well as the remnants after brewing. Efficient management of these wastes is important for enhancing the economic value of the tea industry. Therefore, converting tea waste into high-value raw materials has become a major focus of research in this field.
