Extrapulmonary forms of tuberculosis
Main Article Content
Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. While pulmonary tuberculosis primarily affects the lungs, extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) refers to TB infection occurring in organs outside the lungs such as lymph nodes, pleura, bones, meninges, kidneys, and abdomen. EPTB represents approximately 10–20% of all TB cases worldwide and occurs more commonly in immunocompromised individuals, children, and elderly patients.
