Abstract
The Korean Peninsula remains one of the most sensitive geopolitical regions in the world. Since the armistice agreement of 1953 ended active hostilities in the Korean War, no formal peace treaty has been signed between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) and the Republic of Korea (South Korea). Over the decades, multiple diplomatic efforts have aimed to reduce tensions, denuclearize the peninsula, and establish sustainable peace. This article examines the key diplomatic mechanisms employed in the Korean peace process and analyzes the major political, security, and ideological challenges that hinder long-term stability. The study emphasizes the importance of multilateral cooperation, confidence-building measures, and sustained dialogue in achieving durable peace.
