Epidemiology of postcovid complications
Main Article Content
Abstract
Coronavirus infection of 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by the novel coronavirus of severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and has rapidly turned into a global pandemic. Long COVID-19 and post-COVID complications remain a relevant health problem, causing a wide range of symptoms that persist after the acute phase of SARS- CoV-2 infection. This review systematizes the current data on the epidemiology of post- COVID syndrome and risk factors for its development. Demographic and clinical characteristics, including age, gender, comorbidities, severity of COVID-19, and socioeconomic conditions that increase the likelihood of long-term complications, are discussed. Data on the prevalence of post-COVID symptoms in various population groups and their impact on quality of life are presented.
