Abstract

Over the past decade, the Kyrgyz Republic has witnessed a sustained increase in the number of people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), with more than 15,000 registered infections reported by late 2025. This observational study analyzes the current epidemiological profile of HIV in Kyrgyzstan, characterizes transmission dynamics, and evaluates the public health strategies employed to mitigate disease burden. Data indicate a predominance of sexual transmission, a shift in age demographics toward younger adults, and persistent challenges in early diagnosis and treatment access. Findings underscore the necessity of expanded testing, targeted prevention for high-risk populations, and stigma reduction interventions to achieve effective HIV control.
