Abstract

Improper use of antibiotics in medicine and their use in various branches of animal husbandry accelerate the emergence of antibiotic resistance. As a result, the treatment of many infectious diseases, in particular, respiratory diseases (pneumonia, bronchitis, bronchiolitis, even tuberculosis), becomes more difficult: the period of stay of patients in the hospital is prolonged, the costs of treatment increase, and mortality rates from these diseases. Multidrug resistance is usually found in pathogenic bacteria, as well as in commensal microorganisms that colonize the intestinal tract, upper respiratory tract, and human skin The formation of antibiotic resistance in all cases is determined genetically, due to the acquisition of new genetic information or due to a change in the level of expression of the bacterial cell's own genes. An important factor in the fight against the spread of antibiotic resistance is the pharmacodynamic substantiation of dosage regimens of antibacterial drugs, the use of a hospital formulary based on local data on the spread of antibiotic resistance of specific microorganisms. This article was based on the research of scientists from the Ternopil National Medical University.
