Abstract

Given the dramatic growth in internet users over the last 15 years, many scientific domains are becoming increasingly concerned about internet overuse. Pathological internet use (PIU) is a behavioral illness defined by excessive internet use (including a variety of different online activities) that has a negative impact on a person's life. According to research, the demographics most vulnerable to PIU development are youth and students. Internet gaming disorder is one of the many types of online behavior (IGD). The obtained data are used in this study to show that IGD is the most substantially associated activity to the prevalence of PIU. The frequency of the aforementioned behavioral problems, as well as the repercussions for teenagers and their later life, emphasize the need of both prevention and therapy. Prevention and treatment of such incidents require a comprehensive plan that prioritizes school, family, child and adolescent care organizations, children themselves, and the collaborative efforts of all of the above.
