Assessment of the severity of primary (idiopathic) pulmonary hypertension according to echocardiography

Abstract

THE RELEVANCE OF THE PROBLEM Idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension is a subtype of pulmonary arterial hypertension without an established cause. For many years, ventilation-perfusion scintigraphy and pulmonary angiography have been the "gold standard" of preoperative diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension, but now several non-invasive imaging methods, such as chest radiography, echocardiography (Echo-KG), multispiral computed tomography (MSCT), as well as, in particular, to a lesser degree, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).Echocardiography is mainly used to confirm the presence of pulmonary hypertension and to determine possible cardiac causes of its occurrence.
