Functional literacy is an indicator of a person's ability to communicate with the external environment and the ability to quickly adapt to that environment and communicate. In this regard, in 2012-2016, the National Plan for Functional Literacy was adopted in our country, and the teaching methodology and educational content were fundamentally updated. Features of functional literacy: – is the basic level for formation of reading and writing skills; – is aimed at solving household problems; – describes a person based on his behavior in specific situations; – teaches to solve standard problems. In the same way that we work with gifted children, special attention is paid to low-achieving students. For instance , as usual with them: – we make a work schedule; – we allocate a separate folder (for evidence); – we prepare special tasks; – we seek the help of psychologists, doctors, speech therapists if available. The research aims to use non-traditional methods with these students.</p> ER -
