Abstract

Soil fertility is a fundamental component of sustainable agriculture, as it directly influences crop yields, soil health, and long-term environmental balance. Traditional assessment methods such as chemical analyses and visual observations have long served as the backbone of soil testing. However, they often fail to capture the dynamic, spatial, and temporal variability of modern agricultural landscapes. In recent years, advances in analytical tools, remote sensing technologies, machine learning algorithms, and real-time sensor applications have transformed soil fertility assessment into a more precise, efficient, and data-driven process. These innovations enable better decision-making, promote optimal resource use, and support site-specific management practices that align with environmental sustainability goals. This paper explores and compares these modern approaches, highlights their advantages over conventional methods, and discusses their integration into sustainable agricultural systems. The study emphasizes the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration to further improve soil assessment accuracy and accessibility for farmers and agronomists worldwide.
