Abstract

The presence of a large number of limb injuries, including gunshot wounds, fractures, trauma, other neurological and orthopedic pathologies, force us to look for more effective ways to restore motor functions, mobility, self-care, etc. Particular attention should be paid to designs and devices that enable movement or facilitate walking. Crutches primarily perform this function, improving the quality of life of people with lower limb injuries and have not changed significantly over the course of their 5,000 years of use. The authors describe the main types of mobility devices. Their classification, advantages and disadvantages are given. The article presents modern designs of crutches and presents the developed design, which is patented in Ukraine (Patent of Ukraine for Utility Model No. 150986. Stakhanov M.V., Stoyanov O.M., Stoyanov A.O., Turchin M.I. et al. Device for a crutch as a support during movement. Bulletin No. 20 of 22.05). There is no need for complex equipment to manufacture the device, and a standard crutch is used. The free position of the leg in the knee joint area allows using the device in the presence of plaster casts, additional orthopedic structures, etc.
