Abstract
The presented article analyzes some aspects of the legacy of the remarkable Azerbaijani scientist Mirza Kazem-Bek. It is large and multifaceted. A special part of M.Kazem-Bek's works is occupied by research in the field of learning the Azerbaijani language; a significant place is occupied by research in the field of literature, ethics and aesthetics; his attitude to the role of religion in the national liberation movement, to revolutions and to the role of personality in the national movement is interesting. A special place in the work of M.Kazem-Bek is preoccupied with socio-philosophical issues. He attached exceptional importance to the freedom of the Oriental woman; his statements about the role of women in the family and in the upbringing of the younger generation are interesting.

Prof. I.N. Berzin, a student and close friend of A.K. Kazem-Bek, writes in his memoirs about his youthful years: "The brilliant abilities with which Mirza Mohammed-Ali was naturally gifted gave him the opportunity to complete the full course of Muslim teachings quite early. In his family, he studied how his native languages are Turkish and Persian, equally dominant in the north of Persia; from his knowledgeable mentors, he acquired extensive and deep knowledge of the Arabic language, that is, in the whole circle of sciences that make up Muslim scholarship, mainly in law with the aim of taking the place of his father over time."
