Abstract

This study investigates the synthesis and green polymerization of nitrogen- and sulfur-containing heterocyclic monomers derived from biorenewable sources. The research aims to develop functional polymers with enhanced antibacterial and anticorrosion properties using environmentally friendly synthesis methods. Aqueous and solvent-free polymerization routes were employed to minimize the ecological footprint. The obtained polymers exhibited high thermal stability, biocompatibility, and selective antimicrobial activity against E. coli and S. aureus. The study demonstrates that bio-based N,S-heterocyclic polymers can serve as sustainable materials for applications in coatings, packaging, and biomedical devices.
