Anglish and Purism: who can impose what on whom?

Abstract
This article classifies Anglish as an informal register of English that applies a Germanic-only lexical filter while retaining ordinary grammar and phonology. The paper distinguishes two strands (SCR—satirical/constrained subregister; NGE—neo-Germanic engineering) and introduces an institutional mechanism test for purism. A brief genealogy links the development from Victorian era to modern web forums, explaining the SCR/NGE split. A critical reading of academic and platform framings shows a recurring misclassification: ideologically loaded cueing and platform visibility recast a hobbyist register as purism without enforceable authority.
