Pedagogical foundations for enriching the vocabulary of primary school students in speech development

Abstract
This article examines the pedagogical foundations for enriching the vocabulary of primary school students in the process of speech development. The study explores the interrelation between speech activity, thinking, cognition, and communication skills, emphasizing that vocabulary is a key indicator of language development. The author highlights that the primary school period represents a crucial stage in the formation of a child’s linguistic abilities, where purposeful pedagogical approaches play a decisive role. The article analyzes the role of communicative, interactive, and play-based methods, as well as modern digital teaching technologies, in expanding students’ vocabulary. It also underlines the importance of the teacher’s influence, the learning environment, and cooperation with parents in promoting effective language enrichment. The findings indicate that the expansion of students’ vocabulary directly contributes to the development of their speech culture, cognitive flexibility, and creative abilities. The study provides practical recommendations for educators and substantiates the importance of adopting integrative and communicative approaches in the teaching process.
