Opportunities and challenges of developing business models within Georgia's protected areas

Abstract

Protected areas in Georgia include unique natural ecosystems, biodiversity and cultural heritage, which gives them special importance from both economic and financial, as well as ecological points of view. Business development opportunities in protected areas are a complex issue that requires harmonization of ecological sustainability, social responsibility and economic interests. The aim of the paper is to discuss in detail the current state and potential of protected areas in Georgia, the opportunities for business development in protected areas and the main issues that determine the successful development of business in these types of areas. The paper discusses the relevance of the potential of protected areas in Georgia in relation to business development opportunities, identifies existing challenges and problems, and develops appropriate recommendations and mechanisms that will balance economic interests and environmental priorities, ensure legal transparency, promote the involvement of the local population, strengthen public-private partnerships, and enable the development of sustainable and reasonable business models in protected areas, which will positively affect both the country's economic development and the protection of ecological heritage.
